Is JobStep Legit? AI Resume Builder Pricing, Free Features and How to Cancel
JobStep has a free plan, but tailoring resumes and writing cover letters cost $11.95 a month quarterly or $24.95 monthly, and you can cancel any time under Billing. See both plans, how to cancel step by step, who JobStep suits and when ChatGPT is enough.
JobStep has a free plan, but its core features (rewriting your resume for each job, writing cover letters and unlimited downloads) are paid: $11.95 a month on the quarterly plan or $24.95 on the monthly plan, and you can cancel any time under "Billing" in your account. JobStep is an AI resume tool that scores your resume, reformats it to pass ATS filters (the software recruiters use to screen applications), and tailors a resume and cover letter to each role. We checked these details against the pricing section and FAQ on JobStep's website on October 17, 2026.
How JobStep pricing works
| Plan | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 a month | Resume score, AI resume creation, all templates, job tracker |
| Quarterly | $11.95 a month, marked as 52% off | Everything in Free plus tailoring your resume to jobs, cover letter creation, unlimited downloads and a 100% money-back guarantee |
| Monthly | $24.95 a month | The same features as Quarterly, without a money-back guarantee listed |
Two details in that table matter:
- The free plan does not tailor resumes or write cover letters. Many people sign up for exactly that one-click "make my resume fit this job" feature, and it sits behind the paywall.
- The money-back guarantee is only shown on the quarterly plan. JobStep lists "100% Money Back Guarantee" next to Quarterly but not Monthly. If you are unsure whether it will help, the quarterly plan's guarantee gives you more cover; check the exact terms at checkout.
How to cancel a JobStep subscription
"jobstep cancel subscription" is one of the most common searches about the product. JobStep's FAQ says to log in, open "Billing" from the user menu, and manage or cancel your subscription there. It also says you can cancel at any time without giving a reason.
Before you cancel, do two things:
- Download the resumes and cover letters you have already made, since unlimited downloads are a paid feature.
- Note your renewal date. Subscription services usually stop renewal at the end of the current billing period rather than immediately, so check what your account page shows.
If you cannot find the option, JobStep's support address is help@jobstep.io, and the site says it usually replies within a few hours on business days.
