Gamma AI Pitch Deck Workflow: Outline to Delivery
Build a Gamma AI Pitch Deck from a sourced brief through outline, generation, fact review, branding, export, and rehearsal; upgrade only for credits, analytics, API, or domains.
This AI presentation workflow treats credits and PPTX export quality as explicit acceptance gates.
A Gamma AI Pitch Deck is most useful when it turns an already reasoned narrative into editable cards. It should not discover business facts for you. The reliable workflow begins with an evidence packet and a one-sentence decision, then uses Gamma for structure, layout candidates, and repetitive revision. “Make my fundraising deck” usually produces polished generic marketing.
This guide is for an indie founder preparing an investor conversation, client proposal, or internal decision. Completion means every important number is traceable, the brand survives, PDF/PPTX is deliverable, and a presenter can explain the next action inside the allotted time.
Freeze a research brief before opening the generator
Write six items in a source document: audience, single objective, action you want, three supporting facts, claims you must not make, and presentation length. A fundraising deck may ask for a follow-up meeting; a client proposal asks for pilot approval; an internal review asks for a choice. Those actions should not share the same final slide.
The evidence packet needs source URL, observation date, original number, definition, and owner. Market size, growth, customer outcomes, and competitor prices are dynamic. Gamma can restate them, but it must never become their source.
Control ten cards with a sentence outline
Write ten sentences: problem, audience, cost of the status quo, solution, why now, how the product works, evidence, business model or implementation, risk and mitigation, and explicit next step. Give each sentence one claim before expansion. This catches duplicated benefits and missing logic before layout work.
Gamma's official help says Free can generate up to ten slides in one prompt, which is enough to test this skeleton; more can be added manually. Do not upgrade only for page count. A story that is unclear in ten cards usually accumulates editing debt when expanded to one hundred.
Generate from an outline, not an empty wish
Provide the verified outline and brand voice. Ask each card to retain a title, one conclusion, and no more than three supporting points. For any evidence gap, require [NEEDS SOURCE] instead of an invented number. Existing PPTX or PDF can be imported as a structural start, but inspect charts, fonts, and notes afterward—import is not a lossless guarantee.
Generate two narratives rather than ten visual skins: problem → solution → evidence, and current state → risk → pilot. Let the real audience determine which one to refine. Select visual themes only after the argument is frozen.
Plan boundaries: Free, Plus, Pro, and Ultra
Gamma's official help documents Free with core features, up to ten slides per prompt, a 50k-token initial-generation input, and free credits that do not refresh. Plus includes 1,000 monthly credits, badge removal, advanced image models, up to 100 slides, and 100k input. Pro includes 4,000 monthly credits, API access, custom branding and fonts, password protection, detailed analytics, and up to ten custom domains. Ultra includes 20,000 monthly credits, top model access, Studio Mode, and up to one hundred domains; official help currently says Ultra is monthly-only.
Public annual checkout commonly shows Plus near $9 per seat per month and Pro near $18, with higher month-to-month and variable tax/local pricing. Confirm checkout. Upgrade for a named delivery capability, not because “better AI” sounds reassuring.
Estimate credits without uncontrolled auto-recharge
Credits are consumed by presentation generation, images, and AI edits; cost varies by model, length, and action. Gamma says paid monthly allowances refresh and unused credits roll over up to twice the plan size. That means a Plus balance can accumulate to about 2,000 and Pro to about 8,000. Annual billing still issues credits monthly rather than handing out a full year on day one.
Log one real deck: initial generation, two rewrites, image replacements, and final exports. Upgrade or top up only when forecast volume exceeds the current tier. Before enabling auto-recharge, assign an owner and a monthly cap so repeated image experiments cannot create an unreviewed bill.
Review facts, charts, and generated images
Label each slide's evidence as first-party data, official external data, estimate, or opinion. Preserve source and definition beside every number. A chart must explain axis baseline, period, currency, and sample. If an AI rewrite turns “pilot users” into “customers,” restore the qualified term.
Generated images should not replace product screenshots or verified cases. For people, product UI, logos, or regulated industries, prefer licensed real assets. Imagery can explain an idea; it must not imply a feature or customer that does not exist.
Branding, export, and cross-tool delivery
Free validates the narrative. Plus is a boundary when badge removal and more generation matter. Pro fits custom branding, detailed viewer analytics, password protection, API automation, or custom domains. API access is not a reason to pay when you create one occasional deck. Ultra fits sustained high usage and top models, not one anxious demo week.
Gamma's official pricing page says it exports PDF, PPTX, PNG, and Google Slides. Open the export in the destination environment. Check font substitution, line wraps, video, transparent images, animation, speaker notes, and page numbers. If a client requires an editable PowerPoint file, PPTX quality is an acceptance gate—not a final-hour surprise.
Failure modes and when not to choose Gamma
Fact invention: the generator fills a blank; block it with placeholders and evidence owners. Template sameness: every card has the same rhythm; use real charts and screenshots on decisive slides. Regeneration loops: credits are burned changing style without changing argument. Collaboration drift: several people edit copy without a frozen version. Export failure: a browser-perfect deck breaks on the client's laptop.
Do not make Gamma the only production tool when delivery requires complex masters, pixel-level animation, an offline confidential environment, or strict PowerPoint fidelity. An AI presentation does not replace a financial model, legal disclosure, or user research. A team with a mature design system may use Gamma only for outline exploration.
Scenario defaults and final acceptance
Fundraising: use ten to twelve cards, emphasize evidence, risk, and the next conversation; prove it on Free, then choose Plus/Pro for badge and branding needs. Client proposal: Pro makes more sense when password sharing, viewer analytics, or a custom domain is valuable. Internal weekly report: fixed template and low page count usually fit Free or Plus; do not buy Ultra for one generation.
Final acceptance requires a source for every number, no unresolved [NEEDS SOURCE] except explicitly labeled unknowns, a rehearsal inside the timebox, PDF and PPTX opened on the target device, correct sharing permissions, and logged credit cost. Gamma accelerates layout and iteration; humans remain accountable for a credible story.
